                                                      16 Tips for Better Vision

1. Eat fish 3 times a week or take omega 3 supplements if you don’t like fish.
2. Always wear goggles when swimming or doing carpentry to protect your eyes from chlorine and flying debris.
3. Cook with red onions, not yellow. Red onions contain more quercetin, an anti-oxidant thought to protect the eyes from cataract formation.
4. Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from harmful UV radiation as well as the drying effects of the wind.
5. Go for orange. Sweet potato fries and carrots are rich in vitamin A, especially good for improving your night vision.
6. Remove eye make-up ever night to prevent eye infections and abrasions.
7. Take supplements such as Vitalux and Preservision, which protect the eyes from macular degeneration.
8. Don’t share a towel with others. This is a sure way to get conjunctivitis (pinkeye).
9. Block the sun with a large hat or cap, along with you sunglasses, to block out stray UV radiation.
10. Have spinach twice a week. The lutein in spinach may prevent macular degeneration and cataracts.
11. Take a reading break. Every 30 minutes look away from the book or computer for 30 seconds to help prevent eye fatigue.
12. Watch your blood pressure. High blood pressure if unchecked can damage the vessels inside the eye.
13. Turn down the heat in the house. Heat can dry out your eyes. Keep the humidifier on or place large plants in the room where you spend the most time.
14. Stimulate your brain with essential oils such as jasmine, vanilla or peppermint. These stimulate the beta waves in your brain promoting wakefulness and help you focus better.
15. Keep yourself moving. A brisk walk four times a week has shown to reduce intraocular pressure and may help prevent glaucoma.
16. Reduce your salt intake. High salt diets can lead to early cataracts. Use spices or herbs instead of salt. Check for labels for “low sodium” tags.
